John P. Devine
Independent for U.S. Senate
An independent candidate for the U.S. Senate, I run to represent the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in the United States Congress, to restore common sense to our government. Party politics, division, has crippled our government. Common ground must be found between elected officials; lest, elected officials fail their sworn duty. Special interests and selfish big money dominate Capitol Hill. When everyday Americans find themselves in trouble, a bailout hits Wall Street, not Main Street. These are basic problems that plague American politics. I run to right those wrongs.
We need to do more as a nation than work to protect the environment, improve our public education, establish a small business friendly tax plan, fight organized crime, terror and cyber crime. We need to work together, as citizenry, as a society, to work to a future when these perennial ills are all behind us. Kicking the can down the road, tweaking a broken system didn't work yesterday and it's not going to work tomorrow.
I vow to dedicate resources to improving our educational system, complete with programs for the arts, contextual learning systems that research has proven encourages students to invest in their future.
I vow to dedicate resources to improving environmental protections at home and with our trade partners abroad, such as China, to keep industry in business and our energy sector green. We need to get productive, proactive. America should build a national aqueduct tied to hydropower dams to help relieve pressure on the Ogallala Aquifer, instead of a wall between Mexico and the USA. That means an end to fracking, as it's done now, as well as big changes in fossil fuel use as it impacts the atmosphere, land and seas.
I vow to implement a tax code package friendly to better domestic business and international trade.
I vow to work on issues to strengthen ties with our allies and adversaries from inside Capitol Hill as your voice in the U.S. Senate.
Making the world a safer place includes fighting government intrusions on privacy as a priority. The PATRIOT Act, the NDAA signing, the FISA courts, big data, these programs are anathema to democratic society. American Revolutionaries fought against general warrants, not for them.
